The second day of 7th FBMA International Show Jumping Cup attracts top talents

The 7th edition of Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy’s (FBMA) International Show Jumping Cup continues for the second day at Al Forsan International Sports Resort, seeing riders competing in six different categories and achieving great successes.

 

The first category, CSI young horses (CSIYH1), presented by Al Forsan International Sports Resort included 23 riders, where Firas Hamamah from Syria won the first place with a time of 61.94 seconds, Dimitrios Natsis from Greece won the second place with a time of 63.43 seconds, and Tina Lund from Denmark  won the third place with a time of 63.66.

 

The second category, CSI Children’s class (CSICH-A), presented by the UAE Equestrian Racing Federation, targeted children between 12 and 14 years old, and included 8 riders. By the end of the second competition, Layth Ghurayeb from Syria was announced as the winner of first place achieving a total of 78.32 seconds in two rounds, whereas Emirati nationals Humaid Thani Al Thani and Hamad Alnuaimi were announced as the winners of the second and third places respectively.

 

The day is yet to see riders compete in four other categories, where riders coming from all over the world will showcase their equestrian talents to win the trophy with utmost glory. The third category, CSI Youth’s class (CSIY-A), presented by Abu Dhabi Media, will target young riders, while the fourth category, CSI Junior’s class (CSIJ-A) presented by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, will target junior riders, encouraging young talents to get involved in equestrian activities and contests.

 

Additionally, as ladies take a major part of FBMA’s mission, which centres on developing women’s sports, encouraging ladies to be more involved in sports activities, and supporting women’s empowerment through sports, the fifth and sixth categories, CSI Ladies’ class (CSIL2), presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and FBMA, will be targeting ladies.

 

FBMA International Show Jumping Cup event organizer Khalid Al Junaibi, said: “On the second day of the cup, we are glad to witness how the UAE has been successful in reinforcing its position as a global sports hub, by attracting outstanding local and international equestrian talents.”

 

“This international event serves as an inspiration to the UAE community, encouraging ladies, youth, as well as all community members to get involved in sports activities, which raises the name of the UAE in equestrian sports,” Al Junaibi added.

 

Commenting on his win, winner of the first place of CSIYH1 category Firas Hamamah said: “I am so proud for making this achievement at FBMA International Show Jumping Cup. I am also very grateful for being in the UAE, which is an ideal place for improving my equestrian skills.”

 

“I have accomplished a number of local and international titles since I joined Al Shira’aa Stables, so I would like to express my appreciation for the team’s efforts, who helped improve my skills, offered continuous support, and gave me a chance to attend several camps in Europe to prepare my mare ahead of the races,” Hamamah added.

 

All community members are invited to join the last day of the cup on Saturday, to witness more victories and have an exceptional experience at the Equestrian Village, where various offerings will be awaiting visitors.

 

Today, the cup saw two workshops, the ‘Secret Garden Workshop’ which provided participants with hand-on experience for arranging flowers, while the ‘Sports Photography Workshop’ allowed participants to take professional photos from the cup to develop their photography skills.

 

The cup is held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the UAE, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and under the guidance of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and the President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Ladies Clubs.
