The 6th edition of the FBMA Ladies Run begins today at Hudayriat Island. This race is one of the most important sporting events organized by Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. It is part of the Academy’s initiatives to reinforce the community’s fervor for sports and physical fitness while encouraging local women to lead healthy lifestyles.

Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy holds 3 running races a year in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, in an upbeat atmosphere comfortable for women to participate with family and friends.

These races create a friendly, competitive atmosphere and empowers women athletically to become more active and healthier. Such events aim to inspire women to partake in many sports and pursue practicing them in their private time.

Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy is also keen on organizing annual activities, especially after the impressive success of events in the past months, which enjoyed great participation. The open running race welcomed the participation of women and girls of all ages and all nationalities. The race is an opportunity for women to participate in a distinguished sporting experience in a safe environment. The participants will compete in races covering 2.5KM, 6KM, 11KM, or Half Marathon, which is equivalent to 21.1KM. The Half Marathon will start at 6.30 AM, and is composed of a 10K course followed by two 5K courses leading participants to the beach area. The 6K and 11K races will start at 7.30 AM and are made up of one or two 5K courses.

Fatima Al Hammadi, FBMA representative expressed her joy with the successful organizing of the FBMA Special Running events, indicating that the Academy’s series of running races is in line with the vision of making sport an element of daily life for Emirati women. In light of the great support from for Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chair of the Family Development Foundation, Mother of the Emirates; and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazzaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chair of the Board of Directors of Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women’s Sports, President of the Abu Dhabi Women’s Club and Al Ain Women’s Club; and various governmental and private agencies, for their roles in building Emirati women’s success in sport.

 It is with utmost gratitude we move forward thanks to their great keenness in developing the women’s sports sector and their continuous encouragement of women’s sport.

Fatima Al Hammadi added, "We wish women and girls to participate and attend and spend enjoyable times with us in this most popular and attended race by women among all the activities of the academy. We are also pleased to see new participants from all ages, especially that the atmosphere in the current month is suitable for practicing physical activities in the open air."
