Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy Concludes the 8th Edition of the Ladies Blitz Chess Tournament

Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy concluded the 8th edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy International Ladies Blitz Chess Tournament, held Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation,” and under the directives of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club

 

The tournament witnessed wide participation, reflecting its growing role as both a sports and community platform that contributes to talent development, strengthens women’s participation, and reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional and global hub for chess.

 

The tournament was organized at Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Chess Club & Mind Games, following a nine-round Swiss system with a blitz format of three minutes per round.

 

It attracted more than 160 players from various nationalities and age groups, who delivered strong performances demonstrating high levels of mental skill and strategic ability.

 

In the women’s category, Maria Gevorgyan secured first place, followed by Ava Suleimanova in second place, and Wafia Darwish Al Maamari in third place.

 

The list of winners also included Krishna Bommi Yasaswi, Anastasiya Sevastiyanchuk, Shakhnoza Sabirova, Rowelyn Acedo, Eisa Mohamed Ahoud, Karthick Nishita, and Andria Bhattacharya.

 

Outstanding Emirati players included Hala Gamal Amin (U18), Anoud Eisa Mohamed (U16), Alia Saud Nasser Marzooq (U14), Sarah Al Ali (U12), Asena Golizadeh (U10), and Almazoon Almarzooqi (U8).

 

Shamsa Al Hanaee , Board Member of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, said:

“The 8th edition of the Ladies Blitz Chess Tournament reflects growing participation and increasing interest, highlighting the trust the tournament has built over the years. It confirms its success in attracting talent across different age groups.”

 

She added:

“The tournament represents an extension of the academy’s vision to support women’s sport and expand its impact across the community.”

 

With a total prize pool of AED 40,000, the tournament continues to strengthen its position as a leading sports initiative that combines high-level competition with meaningful community impact.

 

Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting chess at both local and regional levels.
