Al Fatat Sports Club of Kuwait Crowned Champion of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy GCC Basketball Cup for Ladies 2025

Al Fatat Sports Club of Kuwait claimed the title of the second edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy GCC Basketball Cup for Ladies, after a well-earned 67–56 victory over Qatar’s Al Adaam team in the final match hosted at Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi. The exciting contest was played in front of a large crowd that underscored the growing prominence of women’s basketball in the Gulf region.
Al Adaam finished in second place, while Oman’s Woman's Club for Sports and Culture Creativity secured third place, completing the podium for the top three teams of the championship.
The tournament was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, "Mother of the Nation," and under the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club
The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Hamdan Saeed Al Zaabi, Assistant Secretary General of the UAE Basketball Federation and Chairman of the 3x3 Committee; Ms. Sheikha Mohammed Al Zaabi, Head of Communications at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, along with several distinguished guests, who praised the outstanding organization and high technical level of the tournament.
On this occasion, Ms. Shamsa Saif Al Hanaee, Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy’s Board Member, emphasized that the championship has reinforced its role as a vital platform for advancing women’s sports in the GCC. She highlighted the high standards and competitive spirit demonstrated by the teams, noting that this success reflects the rapid growth of women’s basketball in the region and provides strong momentum for future achievements.
The championship concluded in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected Gulf unity and reaffirmed its status as a leading platform for empowering women in sports by offering high-level competitive opportunities that contribute to developing their skills and enhancing their presence on the sporting stage.
